Bluetooth 4.0 to be available in early 2010
A new version of the data transfer technology, Bluetooth 4.0, will be available from early next year. This new wireless technology will be more energy efficient, cheaper and more attractive; thereby, it will be able to open new markets for devices equipped with this technology.
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) revealed today that several innovations were brought to the previous version Bluetooth 3.0, saying that "healthcare, sports and fitness, security and home entertainment businesses will benefit from using the cheaper and more attractive Bluetooth technology”.
Aside from its low energy technology as it will be capable to run on a standard coin-cell battery for several years, Bluetooth 4.0 will provide a full AES-128 encryption, a support system able to send small data packets at a transfer speed that could reach to 1Mbps.
Bluetooth 4.0 will provide a single and dual mode. The single mode is designed for ultra low power devices like reporting sensors and tagging systems, while the dual mode will be able to switch between high speed and low power modes depending on the person’s need at the time like computers and cell phones.
As interest in energy efficient technologies is on the rise, since governments and businesses seek to curb pollution and use of fossil fuels, companies and large corporations' trends in 2010 will be towards producing low energy consuming products and green technologies which are about to become very successful in the years to come.
